Continuing the co-operation initiated in 2017 between the British Council and the State Centre for Education ESF project “Competency based approach in the curriculum” (School2030), in the previous year the British Council in Latvia was still supporting the process of improving the curriculum and approaches.
The main objective of this project is to implement a modern competence-based education in every school of Latvia and to provide experience exchange in Latvia for education specialists from Great Britain and a seminar for experience exchange and support in organising conferences.
“A long-term support from the British Council Latvia is very important to us. It facilitates partnership, widens the range of ideas and actions so together we could create a great education for every child in Latvia.” Zane Oliņa, Implementing Director of School2030 curriculum.
In 2018 and 2019, in co-operation with the British Council Latvia, School2030 organised three conferences in Rīga, Liepāja and Valmiera, gathering approximately 2200 professionals from the education field and policy makers from all over Latvia. Foreign lecturers participated in these conferences, providing a wider exchange of experience. Conferences were dedicated to pre-primary, primary and secondary education.
A special event was a lecture by Kathy Sylva on pre-primary curriculum in our century and workshops dedicated to pre-primary education at the conference in Liepāja.
